Best Day Ever!

This morning I met up with Sarah for a day of sketchy fun!

We made our first stop at Priscilla's, a store that sells lingerie, adult toys, goodies for bachlorette parties, gag gifts--all sorts of fun things.

I was the sketchball hanging my head out the car window to take a picture, which I'm sure people driving down Broad Street were thinking, "What the hell is that girl doing?" Hey at least I didn't bring my camera into the store!
Luckily, the store ended up being much less sketchy than I thought it would be and since I am pretty damn comfortable with my sexuality, I didn't have much of a problem perusing the adult recreation aisles.

Below is my bag o' can only imagine what might be inside!!! I'll never tell!
So after that we decided to go stalk our 62 year old co-worker, Kib. We had tried stalking him a few weekends ago because we are so cool, but we couldn't find the right house. We told him of our endeavors and he gave us directions so we would have better luck next time. So we found his house and he was outside washing his car. We screamed out the window in excitement like little girlies. He invited us in and we chatted with him and his wife and they showed us lots of pictures of their children and grandchildren. It was awesome. Sarah and I are awesome stalkers!! Beware, we could be stalking YOU in the near future.

Next up was the jewelers where Sarah got her engagement/wedding rings. I tried on some rings, "just to look." It was awesome. I tried on a $10,000 ring that was perfect, but then for that kind of money, what isn't? Ok, so I won't be getting that ring, but I got to see some different styles which was good, for educational purposes of course. that was that. I like diamonds.

Then we went to Fresh Market and I bought Jordan Almonds for Edgar. I ended up eating like half of them this afternoon. Yum.

Today was a very sweet day.

Dirty Sweaty Saturday

So I got up this morning and went to pilates again! I went out yesterday to Target (probably, no definitely, one of my favorite places in the entire world) to get a pilates mat. It's a bright neon yellowy green color. It's hot. After pilates I worked out on the eliptical to get in some cardio. It was hot in the gym. I was very sweaty. By the time I got home and finally got in the shower I felt so gross. After my shower I decided it was time to pick up all the random sticks in my backyard, remove the old dead tomato plants that had been planted last year before we moved in and start planting some flowers. When I was at Target I picked up a really cute watering can that matches my kitchen and some seeds and other gardening gardening gloves that match my watering can. Have I mentioned how I am IN LOVE with Target!??!! OK, so I am very new at this whole gardening thing. I also have a tendency to kill ALL PLANTS, even when I water them and give them love. I even killed a cactus when I was in college. Maybe leaving it in my dark dorm room over winter break wasn't exactly "love," but I tried. Anyway, I planted some seeds in the dirt and watered them. Now only time will tell...
Anyone have any good gardening tips for a complete rookie??

Needless to say, I got dirty and sweaty and honestly it felt pretty good. I like gardening and doing yard work. I can't wait until we buy a lawn mower. We need to get one soon because the grass (and weeds) are coming up quickly. It's ro
ugh sometimes being young and not having a lot of $$ to get everything you need RIGHT NOW. We do what we can though. This is my first house and backyard that's my very's hard work, but sometimes I like it. I'll keep you posted on the growth of my flowers. Oh, and I planted cucumbers too!

Time for another shower...

Do Something!

So I have been wanting to try a pilates class for a while now, but I kept flaking out. Going to the first class is always the hardest because you don't know what to expect, except that there will be a lot of people there who know what they are doing. I always find the first class to be a little bit intimidating. But I sucked it up because I also wanted to do this class as part of my journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Well, I did it and I actually liked it! I chatted with the instructor afterwards and she was really cool. She teaches classes Tuesday night and Saturday morning. I'm going to go out and buy myself a pilates mat this weekend and hopefully I'll stay motivated and keep going. I'm a little sore today, but not too bad. My advice of the day is--try something that you've always wanted to try but just haven't gotten around to it. Hey, I'm proud of myself just for going since it's something I'd been meaning to do for ages, but I just hadn't gotten around to it! You won't regret it and you might just like it!!! Have a great day!

United 93

So the other day Edgar and I went to see Inside Man. I highly recommend seeing this film, especially if you enjoy Spike Lee joints. Anyway, we were actually there early enough to watch the previews. There was a preview for the movie United 93. Let me tell you, this movie is going to be intense. I can watch the Titanic because I'm far enough removed from the situation, but during the preview that lasted only a few minutes my heart started racing and I started to get really upset and I had to stop myself from all out crying. I do want to see this movie in the way I wanted to see Passions of the Christ, but it is going to be extremely hard to watch. How do you guys feel about this movie? Do you think it's too soon?

Britney Spears Statue

I'm not sure what to think about this statue of Britney Spears giving birth. It is being displayed in Williamsburg, which makes me tempted to go see it since it wouldn't be too far to drive. It sort of makes me not want to ever have kids. Again...I just don't know what to think.

Just a Few Pictures For You...

Me and Edgar!

Here is me with my mom and dad last week when they came to visit.

In Birthday News...

Mom is the big 50 today!!!!!
Congratulations Mom and Happy Birthday!
You are an amazing woman, a dedicated wife and mother, and above all you are my best friend! You are always there for me no matter what to listen, to shop, to love, and to just hang out. You've taught me so many valuable things that I always carry with me. I wish you lived closer so we could spend more time together. I love you!!

It Has Come Again...

And the angels sang hallelujah...

Yesterday I was in Barnes and Noble Starbucks and to my delight (ok I squealed) they had the green tea frap!!! They also had some new blackberry green tea frap as well, but I stuck with what I knew. Next time I will try the blackberry and report back to you. But in the meantime get up, get out and get one for yourself!

(Inspired By Lauren)

I am actually really torn about what to think of these Crocs. I mean, I think they are weird in a very cute way. I do want a pair that I can use when I garden (which I have to learn how to do because I have a backyard now). But if I get them to garden in, can I also wear them in public? I have seen a few people wearing them out and they were, again, weird/cute. I was tempted to get a pair at the mall last week, but I held out. They had knock-offs at Walgreens for $10. I definitely think I might get a pair to wear around the house, but the question is, can I wear them in public (because I really might)? I mean, to the grocery store or if I'm out running errands--I wouldn't wear them to a restaurant and probably not the mall either. My other thought is that I wait and see if the trend catches on and I see more people wearing them. I am a Libra--easily influenced. I also tend to like and follow trends. I am okay with this.

6 Things You May Not Have Known About Me

1. I like To-Do lists and being busy.
2. I love the barbeque ranch chicken salad from The Cheesecake Factory
3. One of my biggest pet peeves is the improper usage of "I" and "me."
4. My biggest fears are spiders, bees, roller coasters and someday having regrets.
5. A few of my flaws are: indecisiveness, obsessing, at times I can be snobby even though overall I am not a snobby person and sometimes I procrastinate. I also can have a temper and be really anal when I get frustrated (like when my house starts looking really messy)
6. I love goats and being in the country.

I love my family...and my journey!

Don't worry faithful readers. I have not abondoned my quest to live a healthier life. I have been contemplating what to post to you all, since I haven't been overly commited to writing down things I like about my body and I haven't been trying the latest in organic foods or trying a new class at the gym. I did however finish reading "Do I Look Fat in This?" I would recommend this book to just about anyone...even men who want to get a glimpse of what we women go through in this society. The book helped me to be more aware of the language I am using and how it effects my life and the lives of those around me. I have been making a conscious effort to not speak the "language of fat." It's very difficult because I've been doing it for SO long, but I am trying...

Almost two weeks ago I went to visit Mom and Dad--they were vacationing in FL for the month. I took a few days off of work and flew down to see them. It was just the three of us--hanging out at the beach, going for walks, SHOPPING! I had a blast! I even went running a couple of times! I also treated myself to some yummy food--mostly in moderation. It was relaxing to just get away from everything. This weekend my parents were on their way back to NY and they stayed in Richmond for two nights (they left this morning). I miss them already!!! I've been thinking, "What do I post on my blog? What have I been doing for my quest to be healthy? Nothing?? Have I aborted this mission altogether?? Why can't I commit to anything??" But it was then that I realized...I haven't aborted my journey. My journey doesn't start on Monday like various diets I've tried in the past. My journey is going on RIGHT NOW! When I was on vacation I was enjoying life, getting away from the routine, spending precious time with two people who I don't see enough of these days. When I was in FL, I didn't care so much about numbers on a scale or how many calories I burned. I was just enjoying my life and the people in it--and THAT'S healthy!!!! So even if you can't get away and go on vacation, just take a little bit of time to stop and breathe--go for a walk, plant some flowers, write a poem, sit outside and do absolutely nothing.

The world doesn't revolve around me or my body. The world won't stop if I gain two pounds. People won't stop loving me if I gain or lose weight. There are much more interesting things to think about and talk about. I'm not saying don't work out or don't try to be your healthiest self...just remember that sometimes we just have to let the world revolve, just because, and let our bodies and minds and souls simply just exist...

(I say all of this basically as advice to myself, but maybe you will get something out of it too...who knows. Have a happy week!) ~Lindsey
