Today's Assignment

Without looking at the JCrew website, please tell me how much you think this dress should cost and how much you think it does cost. Keep in mind, the fabic is a mid-weight cotton and again, it is from JCrew. Make your estimated guesses and we will discuss tomorrow.

Class dismissed.

    Im with Janet.

But I say it should cost like 69.50 because its COTTON!

I just went to the website!!!!

    Knowing J. Crew, I'll guess $300.

Crap, Janet guessed that. I'm with her.

    J. Crew has been adding in an awful lot of wildly, overpriced items lately!

Personally, I feel that they should be paying me to wear that ugly monstrosity.

I've never been in a JCrew. Now I know why.

OMG! You've got to be freaking kidding me?! I had to go look. No way. No way in h-e-double hockey sticks!

Hmmm, I'm not all too familiar with their stuff or their prices. But I'd say it should cost around... $150 or so, based on all that fabric (even if it is only cotton).

But, I'd say that JCrew is probably wanting somewhere around $400 for it.

I would say $7-$12 at a THRIFT STORE! That thing is ugly!

I hope you didn't have your heart set on buying it, or I'll feel bad for calling it ugly. lol

  • At 2:02 PM, Blogger Cece said…

I hope that dress is made out of CRACK!

  • At 4:18 PM, Blogger Isabel said…

I was just in there yesterday. I like the top part of it...but it's just too long.

    I bet it's over $300.

I'm with Cece. You better get crack with it! Okay, let me give you my estimation as a serious crafter.

Okay, so to make a absurdly long patchwork dress out of 72 different fabrics...including thread and interfacing and a little bit of ribbon...the cost to make it is approximately $40. At a 5000% markup because it's J Crew.
I say, uh, math was never my strong suit. :)

I think whoever designed and/or priced that dress was ON crack. Good grief!

  • At 11:01 AM, Blogger Aimee said…

Heee, Lindsey gets her funny from Motherload. :)

  • At 12:22 PM, Blogger Carrie said…

Um. I'm not the shopping type but I would not pay more than say $30 for it. And then I would kill myself because I would then know that I had lost my freaking mind. (i don't do dresses)

  • At 3:10 PM, Blogger Erika said…

I think it SHOULD cost $25. I think it DOES cost $300.

  • At 4:40 PM, Blogger Julie said…

Edgar is from Corona? Im so sorry youve been there so much.

I need to take you on an NYC tour Julie style!
